Please take a look at it along with the image below.
Tawara-An Retreat can be used as an exhibition space for fabrics, textiles, and other fabric products. The first image is a fabric exhibition space using the wide vertical axis of the atrium of the machiya. The second image is a reworked version of Tawara-An Retreat’s logo made in the image of fabric.
Entrance image
This image is the entrance to Tawara-An Retreat, which has been replaced with curtains made of fabric. While maintaining the tranquility of the history of Tawara-An Retreat and the dignity of the fact that artisans used it, we will simultaneously develop a pop atmosphere by scattering modern, edgy fabrics throughout the space. This will also allow us to attract a wide range of age groups as customers.
Specific exhibit bill
The exhibition of the fabric, textiles, and other fabric related products take advantage of Tawara-An Retreat’s characteristics as a machiya. It’s architecture combines the vertical expanse of a high atrium with the depth of a machiya. On the other hand, characteristics of fabric are usually to make visuals appear as large and wide as possible, and they are a strong match. Because of the deep affinity between these characteristics, they can be used in ways that complement each other.
The third photo shows an image of a specific way of displaying fabric connected to the features of the Tawara-An Retreat.
Sales Image
There will be a space to sell products made from the displayed fabrics and the fabrics themselves. In addition, if the lodging function can be retained, the fabrics and amenities (which can be made by Daito Shingu Kogyo Co., Ltd in Kyoto) can collaborate to bring the products closer to the guests and users during their stay.
The 4th image is an exhibition sale and the integration of amenities and fabrics.
Business Scheme
By working together with local fabric and textile shops, dyeing artisans, fabric stores, and apparel brands in Kyoto, I hope to benefit many local businesses and craftspeople. Also, taking advantage of Kyoto’s easy access to all directions, visitors can also visit the fabrics’ manufacturers on display. The 5th picture shows the connection between the brands.
This is a proposal for real estate, a medium that I had never come into contact with before. Still, I had a great time making the proposal thinking about the characteristics of the space and the conditions of the location.
Thank you very much for the opportunity.
